CowZone develops and promotes technology-based solutions for the scientific management, processing and productive utilisation of cow dung and agricultural residues, converting these resources into organic manure, eco-friendly fuel briquettes and other value-added products. It also supports and promotes technologies emerging from collaborative initiatives, including consortia developed by IIT Kanpur, aimed at the sustainable and productive utilisation of cow dung.
A key focus of CowZone is the production and use of organic cow manure as a sustainable alternative to chemical fertilisers. By returning organic matter and nutrients to the soil, such manure can help improve soil health, enhance fertility, support sustainable agriculture and reduce dependence on chemical inputs. This creates a meaningful link between cow welfare, Gaushala resource recovery and farmer prosperity.
CowZone’s solutions also enable Gaushalas to address waste-management challenges, improve cleanliness and hygiene, generate additional revenue and create local employment opportunities. The conversion of cow dung and agricultural residues into alternative fuel briquettes can reduce dependence on firewood and other conventional fuels, thereby contributing to forest conservation, cleaner energy use and environmental sustainability.
Through these interventions, CowZone seeks to transform cow dung from a recurring waste management challenge into a valuable resource for organic farming, renewable energy, income generation, employment and ecological sustainability. At its heart is the vision of a circular Gaushala economy, in which cow welfare and resource recovery reinforce one another and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Gaushalas, farmers and rural communities.
Cow Welfare → Gaushala Sustainability → Organic Farming & Soil Health → Farmer Prosperity → Forest Conservation → Employment → Self-Sustaining Rural Communities
